Hostages in Iraq
Being a Canadian citizen, one may think that the actions being taken against hostages in Iraq may be irrational. Many believe that the people from Iraq, as a whole, are not good people. In fact such a hate has gone to this race because of the actions betrayed by this select few. I for one believe that people should not be judged or stereotyped because of the measures taken by their countries. An example of this can be found in our own countries, even in Canada. Being Canadian, I have been treated badly by Americans because Canada did not take part in the war in iraq. Is this fair? Is it fair to treat one improperly because of the decisions of their government? Of course I stand by my country and hope that the right decisions are being made. When I disagree I put forth my opinion. That is how it works isnt it? The people of a country have elected or voted a party into government.
What is not understood is that hostages are being taken and killed. How is it that we watch this in the media and nothing is being persude to save the people of our countries. Two Canadians are being held hostage, or were held hostage. Along with them is an American and a Briton. The kidnappers demands were as follows: Release Iraqi prisoners in Iraq and the hostages will be released. The American policy states that barganing for hostages is prohibited. This means we all must wait and hope taht all four hostages are safely returned. The people who are holding the hostages believe that all four are members of the CIA. What is upsetting is that all four are not CIA agents but christian peacemakers. The deadline for these demands is today. So basically what is expected is not a good solution to teh families of these poor individuals.
Most find it hard to believe nothing can be done of this. I dont believe in violence to stop violence.. Unfortunately it seems that hostages are being taken to often and it is becoming overly normal, as does guns and killings these days.
